Bongo Constituency Secretary, etc join hands with one aspirant to unseat their MP, takes lead in raising funds.
In a surprising turn of events, some core Constituency executives for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bongo, Ghana, have joined hands with an aspirant to unseat their Member of Parliament (MP) who is contesting to be elected the third time.
The group comprising of the constituency secretary (Joe Akasake no.8) and deputy (Awine Baba Michael no.9), communication officer (Edward Asekere no.4), treasurer (Apuusah Charles no.43), women organizer (Akabzaa Esther no.10), 8 others for feo zone (Ajene Isaac no.12) and other failed executives (Anantoo John, Atinga Philomena etc) who couldn't secure enough votes to win during the 2022 NDC constituency elections have joined forces with non-delegates and the few supporters of Lawyer Charles Bawa-Dua.

What makes this development even more shocking is that the group has taken the lead in raising funds to support the said candidate's campaign. All indications suggest that they have concluded t
they stand no chance of winning the upcoming elections slated for 13th May 2023. It's indeed a surprising move by the group that is required to act as fair referees since they're the ones in charge of the upcoming primaries.
This act by the Bongo NDC Constituency executives is not only shameful but must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.
The NDC party in Ghana prides itself on being a party of integrity, transparency, and fairness. The party's constitution provides for a level playing field for all contestants in its primaries. The fact that some of the core executives in charge of the primaries have openly declared their support for an opposition candidate is a clear breach of the party's constitution and principles.
It's not uncommon to witness a few disgruntled members disobeying party rules, but for core executives to lead such a movement is indeed unprecedented. It raises a lot of questions about the motives of the group and their commitment to the party's principles and values.
The NDC party leadership must act swiftly and decisively to address this issue. It's crucial to investigate the motives of the group and the extent of their involvement in the Lawyer Bawa's campaign. The party must also ensure that the upcoming primaries are free and fair, devoid of any interference from any quarters.
In conclusion, the actions of some of the Bongo NDC Core constituency executives are a clear violation of the party's principles and values. It's a move that should be condemned by all well-meaning members of the party and the general public. The NDC party must take action to address this issue and ensure that the upcoming primaries are free and fair. Only then can the party maintain its reputation as a party of integrity and fairness.
